What we Believe about Mankind:

Mankind is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Brotherhood Team

Penia Baptist Church is committed to encouraging the growth of our spiritual leaders through a balanced program of worship, biblical teaching, fellowship, and evangelism.

Our Brotherhood Team uses the traditional and non-tradition talents of men to worship, teach, fellowship and evangelize within our community. Carrying the gospel to those both inside the Church and outside.

We reach into our community with projects to assist those in need. We seek these projects to allow the men of the Church to use those talents and abilities that sometimes are not considered traditional "Church Gifts." These projects include but are not limited to needs such as wheelchair ramps and other light construction projects that impact the quality of life for those in need.

We also meet once a month on the first Sunday of the Month at 8:00am for a Brotherhood Breakfast. This Brotherhood Breakfast allows a time of fellowship and encouragement in an environment of openness and honesty, designed to allow men to express themselves as men.

Several times a year the Brotherhood Team sponsors special events at the Church and in the community. These events include, an annual Low Country Boil. The Low Country Boil brings our community together to enjoy an amazing meal and homemade desserts. During the Low Country Boil there is a Cake / Dessert Auction used as a fund raiser for selected ministries, both within and without of Penia Baptist Church.

Once a year the Brotherhood Team sponsors a Men's Day! On this special day the men of the Church, fill all the Ministry needs of the Church, from the Choir to the Nursery, men lead setting the example for Godliness and leadership.

Deacon Team

THE DEACON TEAM

New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its two scriptural offices are that of pastor/elder/overseer and deacon. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.

Once a year our church elects deacons to replace those men who are rotating off the Deacon Team or have departed for any other purpose. This group of men act with the Pastor in the general oversight of all matters pertaining to the spiritual welfare of the members. They also see after the relief of sick and needy members. The Deacon Team elects their own officers and represents the church body as a member of the Church Leadership Team and the Pastoral Team.

ANNUAL DEACON BANQUET

This team sponsors a Deacon Banquet during the Christmas season to minister to the Widow / Widowers. This Annual event is one of the highlights of the Church year.

DEACON FAMILY MINISTRY

Each member of Penia Baptist Church is assigned a Deacon. This Deacon, will minister to the members assigned, helping them in times of struggle, praying with them in times of need, celebrate with them during special events, and serving them spiritually as needed.
